Appreciate and define as beautiful a music or sound means recognizing that it is a matter closely linked to temporality. When someone says that a music is nice, it is because they appreciate the melody or is struck by one or a series of stamps. This is only the surface appearance that in many poetic and visual metaphors is compared to the female beauty. The history of the idea of beauty of sound, from a diachronic point of view, should coincide with the history of aesthetic ideals that have taken place over the centuries. The contrast between the beautiful visible, immediate, and that more interior or brokered is currently recording acoustic events, but each involves a different form of pleasure: the one stresses the senses, the intellect. The sound dimension becomes so prevalent that in sound quality issues “Enchantment”i.e. exerts a seductive power.

Already in the 4th century Greece. BC, Plato composed Dialogues which marked a real birth of agti a worldview, to which many refer and that in later centuries remained unaltered. The idea of beauty is a metaphysical category and not aesthetics. Beauty finds its legitimacy last for good. The ultimate aim of music education lies in awaken the love for beauty and start the men to contemplation of the good. It has the power to educate to beauty thanks to its ability to convey the soul rhythms and harmonies based on principles of order and symmetry and give it a harmonious beauty. Fine, then, were defined the music that had a positive effect on the human spirit. Musical beauty for Plato is but a reflection of his ultimate goal, to awaken in man love for beauty by starting it so to contemplation of the good.
